The Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) is offering scholarships to complete the new Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate Program (a $600 value) free of charge! To expand an interdisciplinary approach to antimicrobial stewardship, SIDP is seeking allied health professionals who are interested in enrolling in the program.

Jess Danko, MS, RRT, LTC-CIP, program director at the South Dakota Foundation for Medical Care (SDFMC), was awarded the scholarship opportunity in April 2024. “This scholarship opportunity has given me access to an entire curriculum of antimicrobial stewardship education that has allowed for me to expand my knowledge further in the antimicrobial and resistance work that I am doing at SDFMC,” she explained.

The program allows for self-paced study modules, which are delivered virtually by highly qualified instructors. Each module has a knowledge quiz and post evaluation to claim credit for completion. Once all video modules are complete, participants put the knowledge into practice by implementing the information into an improvement project approved by SIDP.

Danko is enthusiastic about promoting the opportunity to eligible individuals. “I highly encourage any allied health professionals working in antimicrobial resistance to apply for this opportunity!”

Full details about program scholarship and the SIDP Application are available online.

Clinicians (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and microbiologists) without specialized training in infectious diseases who are engaged in antimicrobial stewardship work or who wish to transition to this area of work and who live and work in the United States who identify as underrepresented minorities are eligible for the SIDP scholarship opportunity.

Benefits of Program Participation:

Participants will complete the program as part of a cohort. Start dates will occur on the first business day of each quarter starting January 2024. Completion of the program is expected in one year from initial enrollment. The offer is open through the end of 2024.

SIDP is solely responsible for the content of the program and selection of all faculty, authors, and moderators. Scholarship opportunities are supported by an independent medical education grant from Pfizer, Inc.
