Community-Based and Faith-Based Vaccination Project

We are committed to providing a helping hand to healthcare and community stakeholders who are seeking to improve the quality of healthcare in South Dakota.

Free Vaccine Clinics

Welcome to the project page for the Community-Based and Faith-Based Vaccination Project. Perhaps you’ve seen us at an event, read one of our fliers, or discovered us through the web. However you landed here, please enjoy a brief introduction to our efforts through this SDFMC partnership with the South Dakota Department of Health. If you have any questions or comments, or to schedule a free vaccine clinic in your community, please let us know by emailing Info@SDFMC.org.

There are many obstacles in the vaccine discussion, including “COVID Fatigue,” vaccine hesitancy, confusion due to rapidly changing news, and misinformation. The conversation is made even more complex when factoring in strong political, philosophical, and religious beliefs. Knowing this, we have chosen to become excellent listeners to the varied perspectives, beliefs, and opinions. SDFMC hopes to be a facilitator of healthy conversations where opinions can be expressed, understood, and engaged in thought-provoking ways.

Originally a six-month contract, beginning January 1, 2022, through May 31, 2022, this project has now been extended through May 31, 2023. This will allow for long-term engagement with different South Dakota community events in the summer as we approach the fall vaccine season. We hope to generate interest from community members who would like to host free vaccination clinics at their local businesses and faith-based organizations, and address concerns of their community members.

While many conversations are stopped short due to the labeling and dismissal of others, we want to engage in ways that allow for open dialogue from all, regardless their current perspective or where they land at the end. Honesty and freedom are critical for productive conversation where differing values can be discussed and civility maintained. If you’re interested in being a part of the dialogue, hosting a free vaccine clinic in your community, or partnering with us in other ways, we’d love to hear from you!
