The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) has helped people reach their philanthropic goals for over 38 years. Strengthening and sustaining the EMS infrastructure is among the list of areas benefitting from SDCH programs and resources.
“I know through my work at SDCF, EMS is the safeguard our communities rely on in their most at-risk moments,” shared Ginger Niemann, senior program officer for the SDCF.
Jeff Veltkamp, director of development, agrees, “As the survivor of a heart attack, I am uniquely aware of the importance of EMS in South Dakota.”
Working with communities and nonprofits across the state is an opportunity to create positive impact. “Supporting and sustaining EMS means ensuring that every community—rural or urban—has the capacity to respond, recover, and thrive,” emphasized Niemann.
Local and regional experts featured in the EMS Extras webinar series share programs and resources to strengthen and sustain the EMS infrastructure. Each webinar will contribute to the process of prioritizing and implementing improvement goals, strategies, and activities to meet coalition and community EMS needs. Webinar details and recordings are available on the SDFMC EMS Extras website.
EMS RSD awardees contribute to developing and implementing long-term sustainable solutions for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in South Dakota. The SDFMC Strengthening and Sustaining the EMS Infrastructure project provides a foundation to support EMS improvement and impact by guiding communities and stakeholders through the phases of assessment, planning, and implementation.
SDFMC’s mission is to collaborate with partners to improve health outcomes.
